A Seriously Armed Canard

When you hear “pusher canard” I’m sure a certain percentage of you would think “huh?”, the rest of you are plane geeks. This rear propeller (pusher) aircraft with front mounted elevator (canard) from builder Red Spacecat is ready for some serious sky warfare. With enough firepower to orbit Arnold Schwarzenegger, this looks ready for total sky domination.

P-98 Nemesis

Jon Hall is back with another gorgeous aircraft. This latest is clearly inspired by classic twin boom design, with dual props and a very centrally located cockpit. It's also armed to the teeth and combat ready. It features an opening cockpit, retractable landing gear and an unusual cowling using parts I honestly can't identify, adding even more intrigue. The color combination of sand blue, light grey and white accents is also really nice.

Sopwith Camel

The description of this MOC by is so interesting I will let builder Dread Pirate Wesley speak for himself.

The Sopwith Camel is one of the most famous aircraft ever built. It holds a special place in history as the most successful allied aircraft of the Great War. It also as a unique distinction of having killed more of its own pilots than enemy aircraft did by virtue of its difficult handling characteristics in the hands of unskilled pilots. Still, the unstable flight characteristics made for an extremely agile fighter in the hands of a seasoned pilot.

Sukhoi Su-30

Air power changed the face of war as we know it starting with WWI. Since then the world's superpowers have competed with each other to create the world's fastest and most maneuverable fighter jets to achieve air superiority over their enemies. While the United States has dominated in the development and production of fighters, Russia has never been that far behind. Development of the Su-30 may have began in communist Russia, but it wasn't officially put into service until 1996, years after the Soviet Union had been dissolved. New builder Tino Poutiainen has treated us with a detailed microscale version of the Su-30. Let us all hope that this is just the first in a series of unique airplane builds from him.

P-38

Ah the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, one of my favorite planes to crash...I should probably explain that. When I was a kid I liked to build dioramas, and I built no less than four featuring this aircraft. Something about the double fuselage just made it so much fun to wreck. This version by builder John Lamarck looks ready to take to the air. Hopefully with better landings than mine had so many years ago.

Tomcat

This thing is insane! This 1/15th scale F-14A Tomcat by builder crash_cramer is over four feet long and features custom decals, a vacuum formed canopy, motorized control surfaces and lights & sound! It took over nine months to build, and judging by the accuracy and attention to detail, those were nine very busy months. Absolutely phenomenal work, Maverick and Goose would approve.

Cargo Skyboat

There's no description for this whimsical and fantastic MOC by builder tkel86 so I'll have to make one up. This is Nathanial S. Berkshire's air cargo boat Windswept. He and his trusty right hand man Bootjack offer their services of transport of all manner of items in the northern skies of Florlandia, in the Willow district. The Windswept is a neutrally buoyant lighter than air craft, with turbine assist and a range of 940 nautical miles.

Me 109

The messershmidt Bf-109 is as iconic a WWII aircraft as you can get. I don't want to glorify war, but that was a golden age of aviation, and both the axis and the allies both stepped up with some major innovation. This version, and updated model by Daniel Siskind, can actually be yours in the near future from Brickmania.

D-68 Punisher

How cool would it be to look up and see a squadron of these lovelies screaming in. Well, I guess it would be cool as long as you were on their side. Yes, builder Jon Hall is back with another fantastic sky-fi plane, and she's a beauty. I especially like the squat and almost chili proportions of this one, kind of reminds me of a military version of the classic Gee Bee, with a pusher prop, very cool indeed.

Mayahuel Gunship

This VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) vehicle by Brixnspace is an amazing blend of Osprey, Apache and badassness. It's got just enough real-world inspiration and aesthetic to give it a believability, and enough creativity to make it captivating. The color combinations, proportions, weaponry and smooth lines all add up to a very formidable aircraft.

E-11 Liberator

I spent a lot of time building scale models as a kid. One that I vividly remember was called Flap Jack by Monogram. I don't know why, but this latest radical aircraft by Jon Hall reminds me of that. But even if it didn't I think I'd be smitten with this master of the skies. I can't decide if I love the bulbous gun turret, the double ended counter rotating props or the gull wings the best. Or maybe the graphics or the cockpit. Then again it might be the cowl...
