Some of the nerdiest and coolest LEGO artists are banding together to bring a unique art display to Designer Con 2014, Comic Bricks! One-of-a-kind MOCs inspired by classic and contemporary comic book covers like this totally awesome HULK cover by Monsterbrick. I've signed on to create one (this was before I started working 12 hour days, 6 day weeks on a film) and I really wish I could get to my studio to start building. Designer Con will be in Pasadena Nov 8-9 and will also have a full STUDS display as in years past. Please join us!

Tee Fury, those prolific purveyors of printed awesomeness are back with another LEGO inspired shirt. This one has the greatest minds in science putting on what would have to be the most mind-blowing musical of all time. I'm sure Professor Hawking is waiting in the wings for his big rap number. Head over and snag this shirt today only!
Excitement is growing here in Seattle as the first day of BrickCon kicks off. And what better way to get going than to reflect on the past and present of the convention with a special edition of BrickJournal? And wouldn't it be great if it was free? Well, the fine folks at Twomorrows and Joe Meno are doing just that. For the next two weeks you can download this special issue and see just what all this madness is about.
Be careful around page 28, there's some surly characters and disturbing images, just sayin'
Hockey jerseys are a fashion statement, and geek sexy, just ask Kevin Smith. I can't remember the last time I didn't see him in one. Well now the worlds of geek, hockey and LEGO have converged and the fine folks at Geeky Jerseys are offering this stunning garment of sportsesque geekery.
Thanks for the head's up Will!
They've been a long time coming, but STUDS cards are now available! I was very excited to be featured in series 1, and honored to help make these a reality with some photography and photo editing. I originally covered these last year on my fourth episode of BrickNerdTV, and they are finally available to order online. Head over and snag some!
The fine humans at Toy Break took some time yesterday to open a few packs and show off all the goodies. Have a watch...
Are you a fan of brick films? Well, here's some great news, there's a Kickstarter Project from director Phillip Heinrich and producers Doug Vandegrift, Nathan Wells and Zach Macias called Bricks In Motion. With our help these filmmakers can create a full length documentary about the fascinating world of LEGO animation. It's only be a few days and they're already over half way there. Show them some support!
I was truly honored to be featured in the first series of STUDS collector cards, and now I'm super excited to share the news that you'll be able to order them finally! Starting September 10th log on to brickstuds.com to order yours. And be sure to Like them on Facebook for updates and news on Series 2!
Last night I was the guest on the YouTube channel Beyond The Brick. I had a great time hanging out with Joshua Hanlon and Matthew Kay and pretending not to be sick, pretty sure my ruse was completely undetectable. Just for fun I did their show from the set of my show (yes, I have an odd sense of fun). Thanks for having me on guys.
Did you know there's another Iron Builder going on? Yes, it's been a bit of a low key one, what with all the distractions in the world, but Pepa Quin and Disco86 are currently locked in an epic struggle of LEGO builder superiority. The part this round is the 2x2 inverted dome/bowl.
The month of July is drawing to a close, and the 2014 BrickNerd Pledge Drive with it. But I'm still giving stuff away (check out Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!) including this totally jaw-dropping assortment from the fine humans at customBRICKS. Of course donations are always happily accepted, and I'm giving swag away all the time, so I guess it never really stops.
The fine humans at TBB were some of the first friends I made when I jumped into the AFOL scene back in 2009. They showed me just how awesome the people of this community are and made me feel very welcome. I look forward to seeing them every year at BrickCon and I've been visiting their website at least once a day for years. Today they celebrate their 9th birthday, let's all sing along....
I know it's a showing a bit of favoritism, but I love this MOC and I'm really hoping it goes to the next level. Angus MacLane's WALL•E has just passed the 10,000 mark, qualifying it for official review by LEGO. If all goes well we can all have an adorable little robot of our own, best of luck Angus!
Hey LEGO fans we're going live again tonight to build 10244 Fairground Mixer and I'm very happy to be joined by none other than BrickJournal Editor-In-Chief and AFOL superstar Joe Meno! We'll also be giving away a load of free stuff to supporters and fans including badge bricks, Nerdly bricks, books, props from Beyond the Brick and an Exo Suit! Speaking of supporting, we're still having our 2014 Pledge Drive and really appreciate all your donations.
We'll start building at 6pm PST, join us!
Tonight at SDCC is A Look at Beyond The Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary, a panel I'm honored to be sitting on. If you're attending the conference, and not stuck in another endless and pointless line, come see me be a dork in front of hundreds of people. I've also got a load of badge bricks, so feel free to stalk me after the panel!
Hey there fellow nerds, I'm going to Comic-con! I'm heading to San Diego today and will be there until Sunday. I apologize in advance if posts are sporadic.
On Saturday I'm speaking on a panel, A Look At Beyond The Brick, A LEGO Brickumentary, at 5pm in room 23ABC. I hope to see you there!
