Brickatecture returns, unveiling his brand new wearable Star-Lord / Peter Quill helmet after 3 months of hard work. This model is 100% LEGO, 100% wearable, and 100% awesome. The helmet itself barely seems LEGO, especially with all the fine hair detailing that went into this model. All of the time and parts that went into this creation sure seems to have paid off!      My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations). 

     When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

     Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

     For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever.

VENOM

Brickatecture MOC Industries is back with another fantastic LEGO superheroes model, which was completed just in time for Halloween! Man is now combining LEGO and Symbiote to make this scary realistic Venom mask made 100% from LEGO elements! “This LEGO Venom Helmet is fully wearable and features a working puppet jaw (the helmet talks when you talk). It took 3 weeks to build and features about 1000 pieces.” Not only is the mask insanely cool on its own, but the builder can even wear it and operate the jaw to make Venom talk at the same time! Ridiculously cool.

I am now hungry for Tater Tots. You’re welcome.

Stormbreaker

Brickatecture has returned with another astounding recreated LEGO prop! Stormbreaker is the new iconic weapon of the God of Thunder, Thor, as seen in Avengers: Infinity War. The builder did an incredible job building this model, and had this to say about it: “Fully capable of summoning the Bifröst. This swingable, battle ready LEGO axe took only 2 weeks and 1,000 LEGO bricks to make. I’d say my favorite part was creating the hammer shape on the back using wedge plates and ball joints. And thanks to Groot, the handle is super sturdy.” The shaping on the blade truly is something, and the little added detailing of the roots wrapping around the metal is an excellent touch.

Hyrule Castle

Here at BrickNerd, we like to sometimes to do a blast from the past feature. . .

Back in 2015, Legends of Zelda video game fan Joseph Z. unveiled his massive model of Hyrule Castle, a recognized location from Twilight Princess. A labor of love for roughly 2 years, this creation features some beautiful octagonal roof and tower designs (which feature the use of many "click hinges"), interesting stone texture using many 2x2 tiles in light bluish gray, and a lot of attention to detail. Not only does the model look fantastic from a distance, but as you get closer you even notice that there is a complete courtyard with different scenes going on to help bring the model to life. Edoras, the Golden Hall of Meduseld

The Third Age Collaboration has been making its way around Flickr, bringing many talented online builders together with a common love of bricks and Tolkien. This incredible recreation of Edoras by norlego completely blew me away. This model is just beautiful in its enormous size, with so much excellent detailing. No detail was skipped, and no shortcuts were made in this design. Make sure to check out the other models featured in this online collaboration!

Microfighters Battle of Crait

An interesting model by Boba-1980, but one that is rather fun and creative. The builder recreated the Battle of Crait, something we have probably seen plenty of times by now (and it hasn't even been a year yet!), but Boba-1980 make it in microfighter form. A condensed command shuttle, a smaller version of the base's turrets, and even a tiny First Order battering ram. What does that all create when combined? A fun model that I'm sure many kids could enjoy playing with.

Jan T. shares this incredible scene that takes place in a dystopian time. I feel like large, full scenes like this are not as common these days, and it appears that Jan agrees with that perspective. The Sci-fi City of Oz

Built for Brickworld Chicago 2018, Hacim Bricks made this awesome sci-fi city that is purely the definition of greebles, but greebling used to great and powerful effect. I was fortunate enough to see the very start of this build last year, but I never fully imagined how big or cool this would turn out once it was brought to completion by its builder! As to be expected with any creation like this, there are many small parts used in creative ways. What's your favorite use?!

The Ancient Sith Temple on Malachor

Ben Cossy has reconstructed the ancient Sith temple that we see on Malachor from Star Wars Rebels! Arguably one of the best parts of the show, this temple looks incredible when recreated in LEGO form (especially when lit up, as pictured below)! The angling on the main structure, and accompanying columns, just adds so much depth to this structure that could be overlooked by the casual onlooker, but I would encourage you to take a closer to look to see all the added angles that Ben put in to make it a more complex model.

The Hidden Mask

I recently discovered the incredible work that is done by Mitch Phillips. When I was young, Bionicle was one of my top go-to toys. I loved collecting and building them, and even combing them into my own models. Thinking back at it, this was my very first experience with LEGO, though I didn't consider that it was actually made by the company that made the same building sets that I didn't like at the time, because they always fell apart. Because of my early interest in this awesome theme released by LEGO, I will always have an appreciation of equally awesome Bionicle MOCs. This creation is yet another unique one that I have found lately, and I love every bit of it. If you look closely enough, you'll realize that nearly everything seen here is made with Bionicle or other similar building system elements, with only a few exceptions. That building decision certainly added a lot to this scene!

Temple Lost in the Jungle

David Zambito is back with another unique build, adding to the creativity shown on his Flickr photostream. Jungle terrain isn't easy to replicate in LEGO. It'll either be too cluttered, or not have enough overgrowth. I think this terrain has been executed very well, and even went as far as adding a SNOT border around the edges to add to the terrain. The temple is beginning to be swallowed by jungle growth, but not too far that we can't recognize the nice design of the stonework and its layers.

T-nex Goes Chomp Chomp!

Built for a Rebrick contest, Anthony Wilson has found a way to make Nexo Knights cool (which I didn't think was entirely possible until now). Just look at this sculpture...it's absolute menacing, fun, and creative all at the same time. (Didn't think that was possible either.) I really like the design of this robotic dinosaur, with a very sleek and efficient concept throughout its design. Even the display base is worth mentioning, which is truly the finishing touch that this model needed. Excellent work! I hope to see more Nexo Knight builds like this in the future.

All Aboard for Train Cars

These train cars by Tim Schwalfenberg are very different when compared to the models typically seen on his Flickr Photostream. That's no matter, however, because these train cars are brilliantly done. With the excellent chassis system, these models hardly look LEGO at all! I could see these cars on a model train layout now... I can't wait to see what other cars Tim makes, and if an entire engine is on the way...

Grand Army of the Republic's Gunship

Rogue Bantha is coming in for a landing with his new midiscale model of a Low Altitude Assault Transport (or gunship). What is there to say about this build? It's absolutely fantastic, nailing every single detail of these iconic Star Wars transports. The shaping? Ace. Texturing? Perfect. Having a fleet of this particular creation would be incredible to see. I guess we will have to wait to see the builder's next midiscale model!

Ryder's U-Wing

/

Master Star Wars vehicle builder Inthert took a U-Wing and broke it. ...Not really. Creating partially damaged iconic Star Wars ships and vehicles make them look like something new all together is something I really like to see often. This more rustic, cargo-carrying U-Wing design fits in this category perfectly, and is unique on its own with its exposed parts. Still recognizable as a U-Wing, but also looking like something new on its own, this ship is a fine addition to any modified Star Wars vehicles collection.

     For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever.

Ragnarok Starfighter

We always love featuring crazy starfighter designs here on BrickNerd, and you the builders never seem to run out of ideas. SweStar revealed his latest design of a rather large starfighter, incorporating a nice color combination and enough greebles to make any spaceship builder happy. Elegance meets science-fiction designs with this inspiring model.

Nathaniel Stoner

     My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations). 

     When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

     Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

Dragon Yin and Dragon Yang

Anythony Wilson and Jayfa came together for an interesting collaborative build. The image of Yin and Yang is a symbol that many are familiar with today. These two builders brought their creature building skills together to form a piece that could easily be considered art. A depiction of Yin and Yang through the shape of two dragons. Beautiful!

The SFC - Titan

Andreas Lenander continues to build excellent sci-fi models, the latest being this very starfighter that immediately caught my attention. Just look at those wings, with the incredible angles and the colors that grab your eyes' focus. There's so much subtle detailing in this model, which allows the ship to be sleek and greebly at the same time -- a rare combo.

Retro Spaceship Ready to Rocket Through Space

Many builders bring new designs, techniques, and styles forward in order to create incredible spaceships that look out of this world. No matter how cool they can be, sometimes it's nice to see a retro space build that brings things back down to Earth (so to speak). Boone Builds took the Retro Spacemen minifig from the 17th Collectible Minifigure Series as a source of inspiration to create this rad rocketship sporting some nice colors, sleek curvature, and powerful looking thrusters. I also really appreciate that Boone proves to us that you can swoosh this awesome spaceship. What do you guys think? Are you ready to try your hand at building some retro space models?!
