The One That Started It All

I vividly remember when the Gameboy came out. I was working on The Boneyard in North Carolina and saw a segment on TV promoting it. The next day I went to Wal-Mart (the first I’d ever been to) and bought two, one for me and one for my girlfriend. I then proceeded to play it non-stop for years. It was truly a game changer (pun intended) and I’m proud to say I still have them 30 years later, not that they’re totally functional. I still have my girlfriend too, only now I call her my wife. Thanks for the warm fuzzy nostalgia Cha Mi.

Choose Your Color

Any kid that owned a Gameboy in the late 90's (so let's face it, most) recognizes these guys, it's the trainers from Pokemon Red and Blue, the ubiquitous monster catching role-playing game. It gives me great pleasure to present these as they come from a builder you might have heard of, Mr Kevin Hinkle himself. It's good to see you dabbling with the bricks Kevin.

Prismatis And Argentum

Here's a mashup any kid of the 90's will appreciate, Nintendo Gameboy and Transformers. Not only are these excellent throwbacks by Builder Julius Von Brunk looking the part, they fully transform as well. Check out the video for some fun animation, some excellent 8-bit music and to see it in action.

Gameboy Color

Since the original Gameboy appeared in 1989 Nintendo has pretty much ruled the handheld gaming roost. I bought two immediately, and I still have them. Through the years we've watched them morph in shape, size and features, but the fun has stayed the same. Builder -derjoe- is clearly a fan and has a fresh batch of old school Gameboy Colors to share. Although I have to admit, that lettering is just about as nifty as the devices.

Handheld Terrorizes City

Dateline: January 20th 2017
Citizens are warned to be on the lookout for a small, sentient handheld game device. The handheld, calling itself GameBad has been hurling game cartridges and causing general disturbances since earlier today. "I don't know what happened, I was just standing there having a slice of pizza when that little bugger came up and clocked me with a Tetris!" exclaimed a man who declined an interview after the event. It should be noted that the device runs on classic alkaline batteries so the event is expected to last no longer than 10 hours.

Gameboy

Way back in 1989 I was working on location on a pretty terrible film called The Boneyard. One day me and some other crew members went to Walmart and I spotted these, the brand new Gameboy from Nintendo. I immediately bought two, one for me, one for my girlfriend, and we played and played. This version by Kloou brings back all the nostalgic feels. 

Rayman

Rayman was one of my favorite games on my good old glacier Gameboy Advance (which, by the way, I hacked with a front light...+10 nerd cred). It was just a funky, charming and goofy side scroller with great music and sound effects. I can use those same adjectives to describe this awesome MOC by Swan Dutchman.

I Had Every One Of These

In fact, I still have my original GameBoy in a box in my garage. None of these MOCs by lego27bricks is new, but they've all been assembled for the first time to show a proud heritage of the greatest handheld gaming device, the Nintendo GameBoy. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some dungeon mischief to manage in Lowrule on my 3DS XL...

Transforming Gameboy Advance

Julius von Brunk is back with another stellar Nintendo Transformers mashup. This time it's the venerable Gameboy Advance transforming into Vantage. I have no idea if Vantage is a real Transformer, but I vividly remember by Gameboy Advance. In fact, I modified mine with a front light so it was even more awesome.

Mr. Gameboy

Well this is a dapper little game cartridge. Like I've said, I'm a sucker for Nintendo, and this little guy is awesome. Great building techniques to get the iconic shape of the classic Gameboy cartridge plus excellent anthropomorphization (there's a five dollar word for ya). Makes me want to dust off the Tetris.
