Flying Camera

What costs a lot of money, sounds like a swarm of angry hornets and really shouldn't be used near airports? Drones, or more accurately quad copters (drones implies autonomous, they aren't). I have one of these things languishing in my garage (there's only so many aerial views of my culdesac I need) but it required a lot less skill to put together than this offering by vitreolum, and it makes a lot more noise.

This UAV Will Hunt You Down

This near-future UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) by Red Spacecat is sleek and intimidating. I definitely wouldn't want to get on the bad side of whoever owns this thing. The build, which is a redesign of another UAV, looks very realistic and definitely feels like it could be a real-life weapon in a few years from now. I really dig the color scheme, too: the dark blue and white combine really nicely with the yellow accents.

Tinker Thinker

I have to assume with the coming advances in artificial intelligence and robotics that eventually we'll have cybernetic deep thinkers, robophilosophers if you will. I have to wonder what this drone by builder Si-MOCs is thinking. "What is the sound of one actuator clapping?"

Firefighting Drone

I would genuinely like to see something like this, actually a feet of these, deployed in strategic spots all over my native state. We basically have two times of year in CA (or at least we did) wildfire season, and mudslide season. But since we haven't had any rain in forever, the state is essentially one big tinder pile right now. 

Technic Quadcopter

This is impressive. I've been wondering if something like this is possible, now I wonder no more. Builder 4estFeller has created a fully functioning quadcopter from technic. Obviously the electronics and props are not LEGO, but the frame is, and it's perfect. Check out the video to see it in action. 

RED

A lot has been written recently about the dangers of artificial intelligence and robot autonomy. You know what the biggest danger of having awesome beasts like this fire fighting MOC by Onosendai2600? Dorks like me continually pulling the fire alarm just so we can see it show up.

A1 Assassin Drone

It's been a while since we've had a cool little mech-type MOC, and this one caught my eye this morning. It's got a cool squat design and proportions, and of course a really big gun. But I think it's the pose, photography and editing that really grabbed my attention, well done.

3 X Awesome

It took me a few minutes to wrap my head around these (and to be honest, I'm not sure I truly have yet). Builder Izzo Yossi has created a trio of drones that go to the next level. Each is impressive on it's own, but it also has a companion that is also not only a drone on it's own, but can be attached and worn as accessories to increase capability (yeah, mind blowing). Do yourself a favor and click through for more pics, it's worth it.

K-Drone

SANDSTORM reports continue to come in, I hope the Nambia authorities are paying attention. This drone (by Si-MOCs) was sighted being positioned by dropship with no human companions and is assumed autonomous. It's bristling with armaments and looks like a formidable drone, this can't bode well.

Firefly

This is a pretty slick machine from Si-MOCs. The gold spheres suspended in the anti-gravity pods are an especially cool detail, as is the little greeblie spot on top. Unusual and cool color scheme too.
