Ready for another month of competitive building? Here’s a new batch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for September 2021 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline—after the theme months—so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
One month, one SHIP, one hundred (+) studs!
Deadline: September 30th

Not sure what kind of SHIP to build? Build a one hundred stud long spaceship inspired by the LEGO Friends theme!
Deadline: September 30th
Prize: 40487 LEGO Ideas Sailboat for a randomly selected entrant. Either 41313 Heartlake Summer Pool, 75312 Boba Fett’s Starship, or 75301 Luke Skywalker’s X-wing Fighter, for three favorite entries chosen by three different judges (one each).

Looking for an excuse to build Star Wars? Look no farther!
Deadline: September 4th
Prize: First place will receive a $125 Amazon Gift Card. Second place will receive #75258 Anakin’s Podracer™. Third place will receive #75295 LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon Microfighter.

Deadline: September 12th
Prizes: First place will receive a golden Nerdly trophy, a BrickNerd box full of swag and surprises, and fifteen sheep. Second place will receive a golden Nerdly trophy, a BrickNerd box full of swag and surprises, and ten sheep. Third place will receive a golden Nerdly trophy, a BrickNerd box full of swag and surprises, and five sheep.

Trees are notoriously difficult to build in LEGO bricks—so why not try your hand at one?
Deadline: September 26th
Prize: Grand prize winner will receive 21326 Winnie the Pooh or 60307 Wildlife Rescue Camp or one set of equal or lower value of winner's choosing. Community vote winner will receive 10281 Bonsai Tree or one set of equal or lower value of winner's choosing.

Combine your love for nature with your love for LEGO into a 20x20x20 vignette!
Deadline: September 29th
Prize: First place will receive 21318 LEGO Ideas Tree House. Second place will receive 10289 Birds of Paradise. Third place will receive 10289 Flower Boquet.

The long-running Role-Playing-Game Guilds of Historica is celebrating ten years with a series of fun challenges, including a minifigure category and an Ancient Wonders category!
Deadline: September 30th
Prize: First and second place in both categories will receive two new falcon knight minifigures and an engraved GoH brick. First place in the Ancient Wonders category will also receive 21325 Medieval Blacksmith.
Where to enter: EB forums (note: you must be a member of GoH with three creations posted, though these can be from after the start of the contest)
Build something that reminds you of New York City out of bricks!
Deadline: September 30th
Prize: The grand prize winner will receive a $4,000 LEGO gift card. The first prize winner will receive a $500 LEGO gift card.

Design sci-fi themed to inspire storytellers to create new worlds!
Deadline: September 30st
Prize: $250 for at minimum three designers
Where to enter: Tongal (note: you are not allowed to share images anywhere else)
Build small, Star Wars themed creations in these three categories: "Scene it!", "Ride it!", and "Master it!"
Deadline: October 4th
Prize: First and second place in the “Scene it!” and “Ride it!” categories will receive a custom brick-built trophy. First and second place in the “Master it!” category will receive a custom minifigure from Firestar Toys. The highest scoring build across categories will receive a brick-built trophy.

Find a creative way to include the number 20 somewhere in a Harry Potter themed creation.
Deadline: October 6th
Prize: One grand prize winner will receive 76386 Polyjuice Potion Mistake, 76387 Fluffy Encounter, 76389 Chamber of Secrets, 76391 Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition, and 76394 Fawkes, Dumbledore’s Phoenix. Two runner ups will receive 76391 Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition and 6232944 Limited Edition Minifigures

If you enjoy building MOCs in recent history themes, here’s a challenge for you!
Deadline: December 7th
Prize: Multiple places will be awarded BrickMania kits (which kit TBA).

The first round is over, but you can still follow the action and enjoy the themed microbuild battles that participants engage in!
