BrickNerd 2022: Numbers and New Years Resolutions
/Two years ago, we relaunched BrickNerd with the goals of celebrating the creativity of fellow LEGO builders, telling the stories behind the bricks, sharing in-depth knowledge of the hobby, and increasing the connections within the LEGO community. Every year we are blown away by the reception to what we are doing, so today we wanted to share with you the numbers of what we’ve achieved in 2022 and some of the New Years resolutions for what we want to accomplish in 2023.
A Look Back
A lot happened for BrickNerd in 2022! Even though we scaled back to only publishing new content on weekdays, our audience grew considerably and spent more time on the site than ever before. We gained several amazing new contributors and patrons, hosted three building contests, and regained Recognized LEGO Fan Media status which has helped us create even more in-depth articles. We awarded dozens of “Nerd of Note” trophies to deserving LEGO fans across the globe, sponsored conventions, and partnered with some amazing organizations.
Hopefully we have also helped increase representation and visibility for diverse LEGO communities around the world—as we will continue to try to do in the years to come. The map below shows every country where we have featured a culture, community, builder or event so far. As you can see we’ve really tried to span the globe… but we still have work to do! (In the coming year, we’ll try to fill in more of those countries!)
Overall, we are deeply moved by the reception and enthusiasm for what we are doing. We do this for you, our peers and readers in the LEGO community—to help learn from each other and preserve the deep and rich knowledge that we collectively share. So let’s take a look at the numbers from 2022 to see what we’ve accomplished together.

New Years Resolutions
So what can you expect from BrickNerd in 2023? A lot, actually! We’ll of course have more of the quality LEGO content that you’ve come to expect from us, and we will be celebrating the site’s 10th birthday so we have some fun surprises in store. We’re already working on more nerdy articles, more contests, more partnerships and more swag which we can’t wait to tell you about.
In terms of changes, we are still looking into ways to make our past articles a bit more accessible to help our readers find and navigate the content more easily. We’re also working on refreshing the site a bit and will be conducting a reader poll in the near future to ask for your ideas and input. You’ll also be seeing some new BrickNerd contributors join the team and a few who are moving on to other amazing opportunities.
Thanks to You
So that’s what BrickNerd has accomplished this past year and where we are heading in the future. We couldn’t do all of this without the countless hours of research and writing from our contributors, the support from our amazing Patrons and sponsors, and the enthusiasm from all of you who visit BrickNerd.
If you want to get involved or support us as we head into 2023, we’d love to have you as part of the BrickNerd contributor team or as one of our Patrons. Or you can help out by making a donation, using our affiliate codes or by simply sharing the articles you enjoy with your friends. We really want to keep the ads down and the quality up, so every bit helps.
