Johnny Five

Movies in the 80's were pretty rad. Yes, you have some epic spectacles these days, but back then they were REALLY hard to make, and far less movies had a "2" or "3" or "4" after the title. One particularly hard to make and original film was Short Circuit. Yes, it's a little cheesy, but Johnny Five was a mechanical achievement that still boggles my mind. This bust by Shannon Ocean does him justice, and I really hope this build gets bigger and better with time.

Burning Gundam

Builder LEGO DUO Moko has mastered the art of robots, characters and chibi. His latest is a perfect blend of badass and cute, a classic Gundam mech, with chibi proportions and amazing flame effects. The model has fantastic pose-ability for it's size as well, click through for many more poses and check out his blog for more info in Japanese.

Guardian Arrives

Here's a little dose of neo classic space goodness, in the form of a huge mech from builder SweStar to compliment his already spectacular hangar. I love the classic color scheme on this beast, with it's yellow cockpit and blue details. And of course there's the hangar itself, which is already an impressive environment populated with really cool stuff. That giant classic space logo is an awesome touch too.

3 X Awesome

It took me a few minutes to wrap my head around these (and to be honest, I'm not sure I truly have yet). Builder Izzo Yossi has created a trio of drones that go to the next level. Each is impressive on it's own, but it also has a companion that is also not only a drone on it's own, but can be attached and worn as accessories to increase capability (yeah, mind blowing). DRAGONAR-1

I love when I'm scrolling through my Flickr feed and a model comes along that makes me seriously question "wait a minute, is that LEGO?" This mech from builder Moko is just such a model, and it's beautiful.

Gundam Fever

I have some alarming news, builder Orion Pax has caught Gundam fever. Although little is known about this disease it would appear the only way to treat it is to build some amazing mechs. I think he'll get better though, if these MOCs are any indication. Check out his website for a ton more pictures of this amazing build.

It's Called What?

Dane Erland (AKA Mechanekton) was key model builder for BrickNerd Studio's animation on Beyond The Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary. He built like mad for weeks on end, and created some stunning pieces for it. But the project didn't require any mecha, so it's nice to see him building again in his standard genre. I'm just not sure about his naming skills...

Geological Survey Mechanoids

Legoloverman is a master of the pocket-sized robot, just look at these little beauties. Each one of them has a specific job to do, and is customized to do it. Yet, they all look like brothers. Functionality fused with aesthetics, perfect.

Awesome Trashcan Bot

The Grandpappy based this robot on an illustration in the book "50 robots to draw & paint" and it's excellent. I love the asymmetry and jauntiness of this MOC, it's loaded with character and attitude.

Astra And Proteus

These small but diligent robots from Rogue Bantha are as cute as they are clever. That's a whole lot of excellent part use and brilliant design in two small packages.
