Victorian Street

Fancy a stroll? The Victorian times must have been exceptionally interesting time to be alive. New inventions constantly, fascinating fashion, and style everywhere you look. Of course there was also class warfare (and just plain warfare for that matter) and cholera so it wasn't exactly utopia. But there certainly were some awesome buildings built weren't there? Like those depicted in this excellent street scene by looooookl.

New Century City Block 2: Electric Bugaloo

Ok, that's not really the name of this MOC by Pate-keetongu, it's just where my sophomoric, forever 80's brain goes whenever I see a sequel with a "2". The funny part is, while this is a sequel, the original hasn't been posted, we'll just have to wait and see what that is. Anyway, this entire block is chock full of marvelous details, interesting architectural style and irresistible appeal. I want to visit this place.

Mini Parisian Restaurant

If there's anything I enjoy more than nicely done modular buildings, it's a micro build of said modular buildings. The Parisian Restaurant is one of my favorites, and this miniature version of it by builder Simon NH is instantly recognizable. And just like it's full size counterpart, it's brimming with charm. There's so many clever techniques and part uses here I don't know where to start, so just gawk at it like I've been doing.

Old Chinese Building

When I lived in London I walked through Chinatown all the time, it was one of the routes of my regular commute. I found it appealing because it was always buzzing with it's own energy, and I remember thinking that if it was even infinitesimally close to what it was like to be in Shanghai or Beijing, those places must be intense. But it also had a very paradoxical tranquil side that I really can't explain, how could it be hopping and zen at the same time? And that's sort of the vibe I get from this wonderful MOC by builder HCK_1974. It is at once busy, and relaxed, and so very appealing.

Modular Road System

Every once in a while a builder posts something so clever or well done it could be the foundation of a real line from LEGO. This modular road system by builder LEGO 7 could absolutely be developed into a full-fledged theme. I could even see it being a sub-theme of established properties, like Star Wars or Ninjago. It's practically there already, with a cameo by Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

I was totally a kid of the 70's and 80's, I saw the rise of the video game and the subsequent decline of pinball. And like an entire generation of kids, none of us ever had a quarter in our pocket that wasn't itching to be converted to a few minutes of pixelated fun. ModBots

What do you get when you add modular robot parts, cool design, pose-ability and clever construction? You get ModBots by Alex Kelley. ModBots is a series of customizable, modular figures. Sort of like brick-built action figures, and they're awesome.

Winter Chalet

Here in California we just don't get much snow, at least where most of us live. Maybe that's why I find winter MOCs so appealing, since they represent something far away and somewhat exotic (at least to me). This modular diorama by sdrnet depicts a scene I've never actually experienced at a snowy winter vacation spot. There's so much detail in this scene and inside the building I invite you to click through and take a look. There's also a fantastic little surprise under the mountain, very nerdy.
