Into The Unknown

When I was little, growing up to be an astronaut was all the rage. With our head in the stars, we dreamed about distant galaxies and meting aliens along the way. But this moc by Ralf Langer is nothing like that. This is not the colorful domaine of cute and friendly aliens from cartoons, and judging by the state of this facility the last thing these aliens are thinking about is having a good time. As this astronaut ventures deep into the alien compound, he might just send out one last message into the stars: “This is Brickley last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off”.

The Ring

I don't watch very many scary movies (It's not that I'm afraid, it's that I find most of them terrible from a filmmaking standpoint) but I did see The Ring. I thought it had some creepy moments, but mostly pretty corny. But the big reveal coming through the TV was legitimately cool. This MOC by  paddybricksplitter is just as awesome and unsettling as the movie.

Through The Mirror

This was one of those "wait a second, that's LEGO?" moments this morning. It's also one of those "AHHHHH" moments. I don't know what it is about mirrors and the human psyche, but we're perpetually crafting disturbing images and stories about them. And thanks to Pepa Quin we have another legend to contemplate, I'm going to name her Mildred, and she continually judges your water temperature.

Jack-In-The-Box

I never had a jack-in-the-box as a kid, but I remember my cousin having one and it scared the crap out of me. You would crank the handle to a somewhat creepy rendition of Pop Goes The Weasel, at least for the first three measures. Then it was almost time for the "Pop", and the timing was always just a little off. Sometimes it was a full crank, sometimes 3/4, sometimes 1 1/2. I don't know if it was intentional, but it sure caused a lot of child anguish and stress. Then the damn clown would pop out and it was time to change your shorts. This version by ~Likus~ doesn't "pop" up, but the crank does make the clown go up and down, which is *almost* as creepy.
