Do you like your cars loud? Do you smoke your tires at every traffic light? Do you only drive in a straight line? Then you’re probably an American muscle-car fan. And you’re probably pretty stoked about LEGO’s announcement of the new customizable 1969 Camaro Z28 coming August 1st.

Here at BrickNerd, we figured we take a lap around the interwebs to check out some other versions of Camaros from the LEGO community. So take a break from Amazon Prime Day and get in gear for a ride through these Camaro-inspired MOCs.

Let’s fire it up with Eric Teo’s mining scale Camaro, complete with sleeveless driver. He’s got some nice upgrades here, like the fog lights and the exposed engine-y thing in the hood. Boss! (That license plate looks strangely familiar, though!)

Next up, we’re shifting gears to a 1973 Camaro Z28 by Doug Vander Meulen. Although he said it started out as minifig scale, it ended up much larger. Of course, that means more details, like the massive air-intake on the hood, and flashy gold rims. (I bet if you tried hard enough, those stipes could be changed to different colors, too!)

Lego911 has been posting cars on Flickr for years and has built every model out there so he was bound to have a few Camaro’s. I like the colors and the Hot Wheels theme on these two, but check out his Flickr stream for more.

And what kind of MOC Round-Up would this be without a Transformer!? In the movie, Bumblebee started out as a 1970s Camaro—until a snarky comment from, I forget her name, prompted him to upgrade to the 2011 SS. Jerry Builds Bricks has a crafty transformable rendition here. So, in light of how LEGO now has official Transformer sets, who knows what might be next?

Mad Physicist (aka Ralph Savelsberg) is the master of movie cars (watch this space for an article about him soon!) and so he’s chosen the Bumblebee Transformer as well. His Camaro is a slightly smaller scale than the Hot Wheels cars and has a totally different style. And of course, it transforms too!

OK, here’s one last Transformer. Unlike the model above, Firas doesn’t like studs… his models are as smooth as a… LEGO tile! His cars are incredibly detailed and always spectacular, and you can read more about him in our feature interview.

Lastly and for a bit more color, here’s a handy how-to video with instructions to build your own Camaro from scratch! hachiroku24 is a master of bringing you along on the journey and providing step-by-step instruction videos for his creations, so go check out their channel. They even have three other Camaro’s to choose from!

Before you head out on your epic drive (to the LEGO store, obviously), here are three random tidbits of information about the upcoming 10304 LEGO Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

1) Z28 stands for “Special Performance Package”. It was basically designed to be a street-legal race car.

2) The license plate P4N T3R (that you can see if you scroll in the gallery) is a reference to the Camaro’s code name during development.

And 3) the name Camaro, although in some dictionaries translates to “friend” or “comrade”, was chosen by several GM executives who at the time defined it as “a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs.”

We also hope someone is going to make the new set into a Transformer, because why not!? So there you have it, gang! For those of you who’ve been idling for a Chevy Camaro to go with your Ford Mustang, now’s your chance. Just make sure you obey all local traffic laws on the way to the store.
