Fembot

Yes, the builder of this beautiful MOC, nobu_tary, called her "Female Robot", but I like the name Fembot. And not just because I've watched Austin Powers too many times, but because I've always been a fan of sexy robots. My fascination started with an artist named Hajime Sorayama, who's been showing us a sexier future since the 70's. I highly recommend seeking him out, but be warned, if you do you will see some risqué stuff. The curves, forms and pose of this MOC are absolutely gorgeous.

I wish the future would get here already. We've been watching the antics of cool mechs like this MOC from Moko since the 70's and we still can't suit up and cause a little mischief. Then again, I've seen what people do with something as simple as those stupid two-wheel balancing boards (I refuse to call them hoverboards) so perhaps it's best we don't have this tech quite yet.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe!

Okay, team:  Activate your interlocks, connect your dyna-therms, and up your infra-cells.  Never knew what that last one meant, but anyway... Let's go Voltron Force!  Check out this detailed and functional LEGO reproduction of a classic 80's cartoon robot by승훈 이.  He's got all the poses, too, not only for Voltron, but all of the individual Lions.  "Form Blazing Sword!"

Firepower

For the ultimate in large frame combat or urban pacification look no further than the XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms. The "Zero Three" combines everything you expect in mecha form factor plus enough armament to level a small city. All this with a cockpit that pampers the driver. With rich corinthian leather, burled walnut accents and a 14 speaker sound system that will liquify your colon. So be prepared warriors, it's time to suit up!

(nice build Moko ;-)

SOCIUS

My first reaction to seeing this MOC and presentation by zi zy was a flood of nostalgia. My buddy and I used to love to go to a Japanese toy store in LA called Pony Toy. We would gawk for ages at all the cool stuff from across the Pacific. This is so well done it looks exactly like a classic Japanese model kit, the kind we would lust after but couldn't afford (jeez, I've always been poor).

Johnny Five

I'll say one thing for Iron Builder, it makes my job easy, Today we're getting retro with some 80's robotic action. This is Johnny Five from the classic movie Short Circuit by Pepa Quin. I've always been a fan of this robot. Short Circuit came out when I was graduating high school and planning on going into the film industry...to do animatronics. It's hard to understate how inspiring this work was to me.

In The Hangar

I've always really hoped mechs would become a reality in my lifetime. With the recent sword rattling of robot builders in America and Japan, I think we're starting to make progress. I just want to see one of these giant robots in action, or even just step into a hangar like this awesome one by builder Benjamin Cheh and see one of these beasts in person, what a sight it will be.

Rad Robots

I'm a kid of the 80's. You guys read about what it was like when the arcade was king, I was there. You hear Adam Ant on the Spotify, I bought the record. You mock break dancing, I did it (did I just say that out loud?) And when we thought 'robot', we thought of the likes of these MOCs by breaksbricks72 (and of course Star Wars). They're inspired by the Tomy Omnibots series, and they're totally bitchin' dude.

Jumbo Machinder Batman

Kids from the decade that brought us The Gong Show, bell bottoms and Star Wars will remember these large iconic robots from across the sea. Well thanks to the creative mind of builder MacLane we're going to get a whole series of these soon. It's LEGO meets super heroes meets 70's Japanese robots, and I can't wait to see more.

Research And Development

Let's face it, the future isn't going to invent itself. It's going to take creative minds, deep thinkers, tinkerers and dreamers to make it happen. And no matter how far in the future you go, there's always going to be new trails to blaze, new ideas to realize and and new dreams to strive for. Sandra Loves The 80's

I'm a kid of the 80's. I wore parachute pants, listened to Duran Duran, watched MTV when they had music and kept my eyes on the skies for ICBMs. The proportions and color selection of this sexy bot by DViddy were the first thing that caught my eye. But it's the inclusion of a classic Sony Sport Walkman (which I also had) that put this over the top for me.

L.01 NAVY STAR

Mechs are so prevalent in the AFOL community that it's hard to stand out. I see them literally every day, and it really takes something special to get my attention, something like this MOC from Moko. There's not one particular feature of this Gundam that stands out necessarily, but the whole package. It has excellent construction, cool color choices, nice poses (click through for more pics) and excellent photography. It's the whole enchilada, and pretty badass.
